1.- Ulysses or Odysseus was the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, husband of Penelope and father of Telemachus. He was known by the epithet of “the Cunning” due to his intelligence. He fought, together with Achilles and other heros, in the Trojan War, being victorious thanks to the Trojan Horse trick. Afterwards, he spent ten years to return home having very many adventures.

Luchó junto a Aquiles y otros héroes en la guerra de Troya y salió victorioso gracias al truco del falso caballo. Después, empleó 10 años en regresar a casa superando múltiples aventuras.
2.- Superman was born in a planet called Krypton. He had a scientific father who sent him to the Earth when their planet was going to be destroyed. Here, a couple of farmers took care of him and taught him a strict behavior. With his superpowers, he tried to help mankind. Superman was created in 1938 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and his first adventure was published in Action Comics 1.

Aquí fue adoptado por una familia granjera que le enseñó una moral muy estricta. Con sus superpoderes, trata de ayudar siempre a la Humanidad. 3.- Spiderman was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1962 and published in “Amazing Fantasy”, a comic book. From the beginning, his success was tremendous since the teenagers could identify with this shy student who turned into a powerful superhero similar to Hulk or Iron Man.
Spiderman fue creado por Stan Lee and Steve Ditko en 1962 y publicado en “Amazing Fantasy- 15”, un libro de comics. Desde el principio su éxito fue tremendo porque los adolescentes se podían identificar con este tímido estudiante que se transformaba en un fantástico superhéroe, similar a Hulk o Iron Man.

SUMMER IN AVANT-GARDE WORDS- VERANO EN PALABRAS VANGUARDISTAS.

Bourgeoisie is a cancer, wars are a business and businesses are a grey stomach. I am an outsider who likes clowns, who is a green clown in a pink gallery: buffoonery is the only word, my perfect word.

- ¿Qué diría un autor Dadaísta del Verano? Ridículo azul, playa roja de nubes que cabalgan, Sol líquido en mi cuarto de baño. No hay razones ni reglas ni verdades. La burguesía es un cáncer, las guerras un negocio y los negocios un estómago gris. Autumn will come and your plays will be applauded again. “The Bald Singer”, “The Rhinoceros”, “The chairs”… Mr. Winter likes them, the same as Mr. Spring is waiting for me, for my warm absurdity.

“Kim” is a novel of adventure written by Kipling in 1901. The main character is Kimball O’Hara (Kim), and eleven years old boy who dresses and lives as a native beggar in the streets of Lahore but who, in fact, is the orphaned son of an Irish soldier. He is smart and Mahbub Ali, a horse trader and one of the native operatives of the British secret service, orders him some little services from time to time.

The Romantics tended to define and to present the imagination as our ultimate “shaping” or creative power, the approximate human equivalent of the creative powers of nature or even deity. It is dynamic, an active, rather than passive power, with many functions. Imagination is the primary faculty for creating all art. On a broader scale, it is also the faculty that helps humans to constitute reality, for (as Wordsworth suggested), we not only perceive the world around us, but also in part create it.

Many of us are familiar with the works of Lord Byron and that according to Lady Charlotte Lamb, he was, “mad, bad and dangerous to know.”  But, what might not be as well known, is that Byron died of fever fighting at Messolonghi on the side of the Greeks against the Turks, during the Greek War of Independence.  And before his brave death, he vilified and cursed the British Lord Elgin for his theft of the marbles from the Parthenon, in the epic poem, “Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage“.

Since Homer (753 a.C) composed his two epic poems: Iliad and Odyssey, their protagonist (Achilles, Ulysses, Penelope…) has been reviving in other author’s books century after century.

In 1922, James Joyce wrote his novel “Ulysses” and changed the way of the 20^th century literature.

BLOOMSDAY: 16th of June.

It is the day that the whole story of the “Ulysses” by James Joyce takes place…, the day that the writer had known his wife, Nora…, and the day that thousands of fans of the novel celebrate and honour it.

People go along the streets of Dublin repeating the itinerary of the protagonist: Leopold Bloom. That itinerary he ran the 16^th of June in 1904.
